Parliament Election: 1842 valid candidates in 300 seats, 723 invalid candidates

After the verification of the nomination papers of the upcoming thirteenth national parliament election, 3 thousand 406 nomination papers have been received in 300 seats across the country, among the 2 thousand 568 submitted, the number of valid candidate nominations is 1 thousand 842 and 723 nomination papers have been cancelled.

This information is known from the report signed by ASM Humayun Kabir, Director General of NID Division of EC and convener of the Thirteenth National Parliament Election Central Coordination Committee on Sunday (January 4).

It is said that 3 thousand 406 nomination papers have been received in 300 seats, and 2 thousand 568 have been submitted. Among them, the number of nominations of valid candidates is 1 thousand 842 and 723 nomination papers have been cancelled.

On the death of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, the Election Commission has ended the process without verifying her nomination papers for Feni-1, Bogra-7 and Dinajpur-3 constituencies in the National Assembly elections.

According to the schedule announced by the EC, the selection of nomination papers ended today at 5 PM on Sunday. Appeals against the decision of the Returning Officer are filed from January 5 to January 9. The appeal will be settled between January 10 and 18. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is January 20. The Returning Officer will release the final candidate list and allot the symbols on January 21. The election campaign will begin on January 22. The campaign can be run until 7:30 am on February 10. And the vote will be taken on February 12.
