Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has commented that some individuals are trying to destabilize the country by spreading rumors and using social media to incite people. At the same time, he called upon everyone to remain united to maintain religious harmony and tolerance.
He made these remarks on Thursday (September 3) morning at a felicitation exchange program with Hindu devotees on the occasion of Janmashtami at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
The Prime Minister stated, “Not minority or majority — everyone’s proud identity is that we are all Bangladeshis.”
He said, “A cruel ruler, like Kamsa, had usurped all rights of the people and burdened the shoulders of this nation. That fascist regime fell in exchange for thousands of lives. Now it is time to rebuild the country by improving economic, social, and law and order situations.”
Tarique Rahman said, “Some individuals are spreading rumors in various ways to destabilize the country. Attempts are being made to incite people using social media. Therefore, everyone must remain united to maintain religious harmony and tolerance.”
Around 10 AM, the Prime Minister attended a felicitation exchange program with prominent Hindu devotees and a ceremony to distribute honorariums among priests and temple caretakers on the occasion of Janmashtami. He later handed over allowances to nine priests and caretakers. Additionally, allowances were provided to 64 other priests and caretakers across the country.
Earlier, the Prime Minister walked from his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat to the Osmani Memorial Auditorium to attend the Janmashtami event.
