President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for building a democratic, justice-based, humane, and safe Bangladesh. He made this appeal in a message delivered on Friday (November 6) on the occasion of ‘Great National Revolution and Solidarity Day’.

Extending greetings and congratulations to all citizens on National Revolution and Solidarity Day, the President said, ‘I pay my humble respects to all the brave soldiers and patriotic people who participated in the epoch-making revolution of the Sepoys and Masses on November 7, 1975.’

He stated that the historic November 7 is an unforgettable day in national life and a crucial juncture in the country’s history. According to him, during a difficult time of subservient misrule, corruption, anarchy, and hegemonic conspiracies, the country regained its independence and sovereignty through the unified revolution of soldiers and masses. At this time, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the Proclaimer of Independence, was freed from captivity.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the solidarity of the soldiers and the masses was an unprecedented awakening, inspired by the spirit of independence. The armed forces have always expressed solidarity and unity in protecting the country’s independence, sovereignty, and people’s rights. A reawakening of this same spirit occurred during the mass uprising of 2024.

He further stated that the long 16-year fascist rule came to an end through the strong unity of people from all walks of life, including students, men, women, and members of the armed forces. As a result, the country was saved from the disaster of becoming a subservient state once again.

In his message, the President stated that the importance of the November 7 revolution and solidarity in national life is immense. In this continuation, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman re-established multi-party democracy, the rule of law, freedom of speech and the press in the country. He also mentioned that Ziaur Rahman paved the way for economic liberation, social peace, good governance, and development and prosperity based on Bangladeshi nationalism.

Citing repeated conspiracies against national independence and sovereignty, Mirza Fakhrul said that democracy has been trampled upon at various times, and fascist misrule has taken hold. Through the collective efforts of everyone, the country has once again embarked on the path of democracy under the leadership of an elected government. It is essential to strengthen all state institutions, including democratic ones, to sustain this progress.

Calling for mutual respect, discussion, and keeping the National Parliament at the center for resolving national problems, the President said that to realize the aspirations of November 7, the state should be governed based on the philosophy of ‘Bangladesh First’ in the interest of the country and its people. National interest, equality, justice, and the practice of democracy must be given the highest priority.

In the concluding part of his message, the President said, ‘Let us, inspired by the spirit of independence, sovereignty, and November 7, unite regardless of party affiliation to end corruption, discrimination, and all conspiracies, and build a democratic, justice-based, humane, and safe Bangladesh.’

At this time, he wished for the overall success of all programs undertaken on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
