President flies to London for treatment

President M Abdul Hamid on Saturday left Dhaka for London for health check-up and treatment of eyes.

President's Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin told UNB that a VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited carrying the President took off from Shahjalal International Airport around 11 am.  

The President is scheduled to have his check-up at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London, he added.

Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, LGRD and Co-operatives Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, dean of diplomatic corps and ambassador of Vatican to Bangladesh, British high commissioner in Dhaka, cabinet secretary, chiefs of three services, Prime Minister’s principal secretary, inspector general of police (IGP), foreign secretary, and civil and military high officials concerned saw him off at the VVIP Lounge of the airport.

President Abdul Hamid is expected to return home on July 15.

He also underwent health check-up in London in October last year.
