President hopes new EC to be transparent, accountable

Staff Correspondent:President Abdul Hamid on Monday expected that the newly constituted Election Commission (EC) will carry out its duty with transparency and accountability.

The president said this during a meeting with the new EC team led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda called on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon, president�s press secretary Joynal Abedin said.

CEC KM Nurul Huda and four commissioners held the hour-long meeting with the president that began around 3:30pm.

The meeting happened five days after the CEC and his team -- Mahbub Talukder, Md Rafiqul Islam, Begum Kabita Khanam and Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury -- took oath at the Supreme Court Judges� Lounge in Dhaka.
