President to Take Residence at Bangabhaban Today with Guard of Honor

The country’s 23rd President, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, is moving into Bangabhaban on Sunday (August 23). The President’s office stated that a smart contingent of the President Guard Regiment will give him a guard of honor after he moves from his government residence on Minto Road to Bangabhaban.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will depart from his government residence on Minto Road for Bangabhaban on Sunday (August 23) at 10:50 AM.

It is known that a smart contingent of the President Guard Regiment will give him a guard of honor upon his arrival at Bangabhaban.

After 35 long years, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected the country’s 23rd president through a direct vote in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) on August 20. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A. M. M. Nasir Uddin declared him victorious that afternoon after the presidential election vote count.

Subsequently, he was sworn in as the country’s 23rd president at 7:30 PM on Friday (August 21) at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban. The newly elected president took the oath from the acting Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Qaiser Kamal.

It is noteworthy that President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir last paid deep respect to the heroic martyrs of the Great Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar on Saturday (August 22) morning.
