Prime Minister Unveils Commemorative Stamp for Mother Language Day

Prime Minister Tareque Rahman has unveiled a special commemorative postage stamp marking the Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day-2026. He launched the stamp on Saturday (February 21) at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, as he began his first official activity there. This marks his first official signature and activity at the Tejgaon office.

Upon his arrival at the office at 10:10 AM, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Principal Secretary A B M Abdus Sattar and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumen. The presence of the head of government at the Tejgaon office after a long time generated enthusiasm among the officials and employees.

Before entering the main building of the office, the Prime Minister exchanged greetings with officials and employees of various levels. He specifically spoke for some time with and inquired about officials who had served during the government of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. Many present were moved by his cordial behavior.

Before commencing official duties, the Prime Minister planted a Swarnachampa sapling in the office premises. Subsequently, he participated in a special prayer (munajat) to express gratitude to Almighty Allah and to pray for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the nation. Senior military and civil officials, including the Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, were present on the occasion.

Following the unveiling of the stamp, the Prime Minister held a brief exchange of views with the relevant officials and provided necessary directives on important administrative matters. Reaffirming his commitment to dedicating himself to the service of the people, he formally inaugurated the administrative activities of the new government at the Tejgaon office.
