Obaidul Quader, the ruling Awami League general secretary and also the road transport and bridges minster, on Sunday requested to the nation for formation of the non-communal Bangladesh which was the pledge of the war of independence in 1971.
When Quader placed a wreath at the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on the Dhaka University campus marking 41st death anniversary of the poet, he said, ‘Nazrul was a non-communal poet and we should follow his ideals for formation of the non-communal country.’
Quader called on flourishing people and the fans and followers of poet Nazrul, to come forward for formation of the non-communal Bangladesh, defeating the communal forces.
The organizing secretaries of the party Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, cultural secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap and others attended the programme.
