Shaon files a case against vlogger Bunty

Entertainment Desk: Actress Meher Afroz Shaon on Sunday afternoon filed a case against Bunty Mir, the vlogger (video blogger), who allegedly made abusive comments on her through social media platform Facebook.

She filed the case with Dhanmondi Police Station under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act around 3:15pm, Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi Police Station, told bd24live.com.

In the case statement, she said that Bunty tarnished her reputation by saying ugly, bogus and baseless words and spreading rumours about her through social media sites including Facebook and YouTube, the officer-in-charge said.

Earlier, the actress filed a general diary (GD) against Bunty on February 24.

Later, Bunty apologised to Shaon by a Facebook post.

On his Facebook wall, Bunty, who is now in New York, yesterday posted: All of you please forgive me, I was highly rebuked, please do not rebuke me more. May Allah forgive me.

Buntys remarks in the video following Shaons concern about Doob, directed by Mostafa Sarwar Farooki, which according to her is made based on some incidents on Humayun Ahmed's life, drew so much criticism.

Shaon, wife of late Humayun Ahmed alleged that the film could portray Humayun Ahmed in bad light and requested the censor board to review it for such instances and take immediate action.

She issued an official letter to the Bangladesh Film Censor Board (BFCB) explaining her concerns about the film on February 13.

Mostafa Sarwar Farookis Irrfan Khan-starrer movie Doob has come under fiery debate recently centering complaints of its being modelled upon the life of celebrated Bengali writer Humayun Ahmed.

Taking her complaints under consideration, BFDC suspended its no-objection certificate (NOC) to the film on February 16, just a day after publishing it, upon request from Information Ministry to halt the release of the movie temporarily. As a result, the uncertainty has surfaced regarding the release of the movie.
