Siddiqur to get govt job in health ministry: Nasim
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday said ,Siddiqur Rahman, Titumir college student whose eyes were damaged during a demonstration in the capital recently, would get a job in the Health Ministry after his return to the country.
"The government will help Siddiqur to get rehabilitated. I will give him a job in my ministry on his return to the country from India whether he gets back his eye sight or not," he said on Tuesday.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled, 'Chikungunya: Dhaka Experience – 2017' at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) seminar hall in city's Shahbagh area.
"We will try our level best to help to get back his vision.
If doctors suggest, Siddiq's eyes will also be operated," he added.
Siddiqur, a third-year student of political science, was wounded during a demonstration of the students of seven Dhaka University-affiliated colleges at Shahbagh last month.
As per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry arranged his treatment at Chennai's Sankara Nethralaya Hospital. The government will bear the cost of his treatment. He was taken to the hospital on July 27.
Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon, Director of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, BSMMU Registrar Prof ABM Abdul Hannan and Prof Mohammed Atiqur Rahman also spoke, among others, with BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan in the chair.
