The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again decided to reduce gold prices in the domestic market. The price of 22-carat gold has been set at BDT 2,40,636 per bhori (11.664 grams), a reduction of BDT 7,115.
This decision to lower prices was made during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring Committee on Saturday (August 29).
In a press release, BAJUS announced that these new prices became effective from 10 AM today, Saturday.
According to BAJUS’s new decision, the price of 22-carat gold, including VAT, is BDT 2,40,636. The price of 21-carat gold is BDT 2,29,891, 18-carat gold is BDT 1,97,333, and traditional method gold is BDT 1,61,173.
Alongside gold, BAJUS has also reduced the price of silver. As per the new decision, the price per gram of 22-carat silver is BDT 455, 21-carat is BDT 435, 18-carat is BDT 375, and traditional method silver is BDT 285.
Previously, the price per gram of 22-carat silver was BDT 470. This means the price of silver has decreased by BDT 15 per gram.
BAJUS stated in the press release that VAT is included in the fixed selling price. Therefore, no separate VAT can be charged from customers. However, labor charges will be added based on the design of the jewelry.
Furthermore, BAJUS’s previous rules regarding the exchange or purchase and sale of gold and silver jewelry will remain in effect, excluding VAT, labor charges, and stone prices. These new prices will be applicable across all jewelry establishments in the country until further notice.
