A Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to national team cricketer and spinner Arafat Sunny in a dowry case filed by Nasrin Sultana, who claimed to be Sunny's wife.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jakir Hossain passed the order after Sunny submitted before the court in the morning asking for bail, said his lawyer Jewel Ahmed, reports UNB.

Earlier on Sunday, the court formed charges against Sunny in a dowry case filed by Nasrin.

The court also issued arrest warrant as Sunny could not be present before the court as he has been suffering from Chikunguniya.

On April 5, the court granted ad-interim bail to the cricketer.

Nasrin Sultana filed the case against the cricketer and his mother with the court on charge of demanding Tk 20 lakh as dowry on January 23.

She also filed another case under the Information and Communication Technology Act.
