Staff Reporter:Stocks ended lower on the bourses Monday, the second trading session of the week, with turnover decreased from the previous session.
DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), decreased by 14.86 points or 0.26 per cent to close at 5620.24. The two other indices also edged lower.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also decreased 4.61 points or 0.35 per cent to close at 1307.46. The DS30 including blue chips shed over 7.67 points or 0.37 per cent to close at 2029.67 points.
Turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the main bourse of the country, has soared at Tk 10.20 billion (10202.94 million) on Monday, marking a significant increase from previous session�s Tk 13.93 billion (13931.91 million) on Sunday. Of the issues traded on the DSE, 102 advanced, 175 declined and 50 remained unchanged.
Non-banking financial sector gathered the highest turnover worth of Tk 483.60 million which was 21.09 per cent of total turnover. LankaBangla Finance Limited was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 483.60 million changing hands followed by Islami Bank, Titas Gas, Active Fine, Barka Power and Orion Pharm.
Premier Leasing & Finance Limited was also the day's top gainer, posting a rise of 8.89 per cent while Zeal Bangla Sugar Mills Ltd was the day's worst loser, posting a decline of 8.08 percent. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed lower with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE gained 29.08 points to close at 10545.76 points.
Of the 258 issues traded on the DSE, 69 advanced, 151 declined and 38 remained unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 18.72 million share and mutual fund units, generating a turnover of Tk 594.82 million.
