Staff Correspondent: Mohammad Imam Sheikh, the seventeen-year-old rickshaw van puller who took Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on a ride while visiting her native village in Tungipara, will be appointed in Bangladesh Air Force.
The religious affairs secretary of the ruling Awami Leagu Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah confirmed the information on Sunday.
Moreover, it has been known that the rickshaw van, in which the prime minister roved around her village, has been taken to museum.
Bangladesh Air Force bought the van and kept the van for exhibition.
Awami League leaders including Sheikh Mohammad handed over Imam Sheikh to the officials of Bangladesh Airforce at about 11:00am at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
Jessore Air Force Squadron Leader Mohammad Harunur Rashid and Delwar Hossain took Imam and his rickshaw van to Birshrestho Motiur Rahman base in Jessore.
Earlier, on 27 January, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took an about 15-minute ride on the van at her Tungipara village home in Gopalganj, crossing nearly one kilometre road from the mausoleum of Bangabandhu.
Sheikh Rehana�s son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, his wife Peppi Siddiq and their daughter Lila Tuli Siddiq and son Kaius Mujib Siddiq accompanied Sheikh Hasina when she visited the village riding on the van.
While talking to the Prime Minister, local people raised various problems before her and she instantly directed officials concerned to solve the problems.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to Gopalganj on 26 January on a two-day visit to open the 11th National Rover Moot, the biggest gathering of the Rover Scouts, there.
After opening the moot, Sheikh Hasina went to Tungipara to place wreaths at the mazar of Bangabandhu, offer fateha and join a special munajat there.
Earlier, the Prime Minister visited Bangabandhu�s ancestral home at Bank Para in Gopalgonj town, now being used as the district unit office of Awami League.
Sheikh Hasina stayed overnight at her village home in Tungipara and left Tungipara for Dhaka on 27 January afternoon.
