Police have arrested Hridoy, also known as ‘TikTok Hridoy’, a suspect in multiple cases, along with five others, in an operation conducted in Adabor, Dhaka. Four machetes were recovered from their possession. Police claim that the arrested individuals are involved in various crimes, including snatching, theft, and extortion by unlawfully detaining rickshaws.
The raid was carried out separately in the Shekhertek and Sunibir Housing areas in the early hours of August 1st, led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Tarun of Adabor Police Station.
According to police sources, five individuals were arrested during a raid on Shamsul Mia’s rickshaw garage located in Prem Goli, near the bridge at the head of Shekhertek Road No. 7. They are Mirajul Islam (25), Md. Nihal (20), Md. Sheikh Bacchu (35), Md. Faridul Islam (19), and Md. Tamim (19). Three machetes were recovered from them at the time.
Police claim that among the arrested individuals, some are defendants in as many as seven cases, including snatching. They were allegedly involved in organized snatching, theft, and other criminal activities in the Shekhertek, Baitul Aman Housing, and Beribadh areas.
Specifically, there are allegations against them of intimidating pedestrians with machetes in isolated places, especially at night or when opportune, to snatch money and mobile phones. Additionally, police stated that they were involved in stealing AC pipes and electrical wires from various houses, and taking rickshaws from garages only to demand money from the owners later for their return.
As a continuation of the same operation, another young man, Hridoy, known as ‘TikTok Hridoy’ (25), was arrested from behind Akondo Garments Goli in Sunibir Housing. A machete was recovered from him during the arrest.
According to police information, Hridoy is an accused in 10 named cases and has two active arrest warrants against him.
SI Tarun of Adabor Police Station, who led the operation, stated, “The arrested individuals are accused of involvement in snatching, theft, and various other crimes in Adabor and surrounding areas. Among them are individuals named in multiple cases and those with active warrants. Four machetes were recovered during the operation.”
He further added, “Our operations will continue to ensure the safety of the general public and to control criminal activities, including snatching and theft, in the area. Necessary legal action has been taken against the arrested individuals.”
