Dhaka: Two killed in a gunfight with police and RAB in different place in the country. One in Savar and other in Jessore.
An alleged robber was killed in a gunfight with police in Chowgacha upazila of the district early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Rasel Alias Rony, 30 and son of Kumor Ali, hailing from Math Para area of the upazila.
Being tipped-off that a gang of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery on Jessore- Chowgacha highway, a police team conducted the drive in the area around 2:00am.
Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire at law enforcers prompting to retaliate that triggered “a gunfight”.
Rony came in the line of fire and died on the spot while the other members of the gang managed to flee the scene.
Police recovered one pipe gun, bullets and machetes from the spot.
