5 war crimes suspects detained in Khulna

Khulna Reporter:Police in separate drives detained five suspected war criminals from their houses in Batiaghata upazila of Khulna on Thursday night.

The victims were identified as Ashraf Sheikh, son of Afsar Ali of Gaoghara village, Amzad Hossain, son of Emdad Ali of Charkhali village, Atier Sheikh, son of Hashem Sheikh of Sundarmohal village, Mottasen Billah, son of Rahmat Ullah of Kismat Laxmikhola village and Kamaluddin Boldar, son of Jabir Uddin Boldar of Biret village in the upazila.

Enamul Haq, officer-in-charge of Batiaghata Police station, said police conducted individual drives in the upazila at night and arrested the five people in separate cases filed against them.

After that, they were shown arrested in war crimes cases for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, the OC said.
