The government on Monday called Myanmar chargé d’affaires at the foreign ministry and protested against the illegal intrusion of Myanmar citizens into Bangladesh a consequence of crackdown inside bordering Rakhine State.
A foreign ministry director general presented the government’s message to Myanmar envoy Aung Myint who was asked to meet him at the ministry, officials said.
In the meantime, the officer-in-charge of Ukhiya police station in Cox’s Bazar Mohammad Kai Kislu said they had held 75 people at Khaskhaki canal and 73 of them were Rohingya intruders who fled violence of Myanmar security forces.
Kai Kislu said the 73 Myanmar citizens were handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh and they had sent them back to their country Monday morning.
Five Bangladeshi CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers were also fined Tk 5000 for assisting the Rohingas.
