The results of the re-scrutiny and re-evaluation of this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations have been published. Following the re-evaluation, 4,585 students who previously failed have now passed. Concurrently, 3,079 students have newly achieved GPA 5. Additionally, the results of many other students have changed in various subjects.
On Thursday (September 10) at 10 AM, the re-evaluation results, including the re-scrutiny, were published on the websites of the country’s 11 education boards. The results were also communicated via SMS to the mobile numbers provided by the applicants. The results can also be accessed from the designated website rescrutiny.eduboardresults.gov.bd.
Previously, the main results of the SSC and equivalent examinations were published on August 10. Thus, the re-evaluation results have been released 31 days after the publication of the main results. The application period for re-evaluation concluded on the night of August 17. The results have been published today, 24 days after the application deadline.
This year, a record number of applications were submitted for the re-evaluation of SSC and equivalent exam results. A total of 402,051 candidates applied across the 11 education boards. As one candidate can apply for re-evaluation of answer scripts for multiple subjects, the total number of applications exceeded the number of examinees.
In total, applications were submitted for the re-evaluation of 1,056,455 written exam scripts and 231,471 practical exam scripts, amounting to a grand total of 1,287,926 applications.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, President of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, had previously stated that the process for re-evaluating answer scripts had been changed this year. For the first time, the applied answer scripts were not only re-scrutinized but also re-evaluated.
Under the old rules, re-scrutiny primarily involved checking for any errors in the totaling of marks in the answer script, without re-evaluating the entire paper. However, this time, the applied answer scripts have been re-evaluated, as confirmed by the Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board.
Among the boards, Dhaka Education Board received the highest number of re-evaluation applications. In this board, 94,236 candidates applied for the re-evaluation of 277,665 written exam scripts and 58,012 practical exam scripts.
Furthermore, over 35,000 applied in Cumilla Education Board, over 39,000 in Rajshahi, over 28,000 in Jashore, over 39,000 in Chattogram, over 17,000 in Barishal, over 20,000 in Sylhet, over 37,000 in Dinajpur, and 27,676 candidates in Mymensingh Education Board.
On the other hand, over 40,000 candidates in the Madrasa Education Board and over 20,000 candidates in the Technical Education Board applied for result re-evaluation.
The average pass rate for this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations was 62.25 percent, which was the lowest pass rate in the last 19 years. Dissatisfied students applied for re-evaluation of their answer scripts within the stipulated time after the publication of the main results. Today, the results of these record-breaking applications have been released.
