The government is on maximum alert ahead of August 5, with no security threats reported, said Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He assured that, with everyone’s cooperation, all programs and events will take place peacefully.

Speaking at a press briefing following a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Dhaka on Sunday (August 4), the adviser made these remarks.

In response to a question about ongoing special operations, he said the nationwide operations will continue until the upcoming national election. Efforts are also underway to recover previously lost firearms.

He further noted that juvenile delinquency is comparatively higher in the Mohammadpur area of the capital. He urged families and the community to increase awareness to address this issue.

Regarding mob violence, the adviser said such incidents have decreased compared to the past and are expected to decline further. “There is zero tolerance for mob violence; no leniency is being shown in such cases,” he added.

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, and other officials were present at the briefing.
