Bangladesh received USD 206.30 million in expatriate income or remittances during the first 21 days of September, equivalent to BDT 25,374.90 crore (calculated at an exchange rate of BDT 123 per dollar).
Arif Hossain Khan, spokesperson for Bangladesh Bank, confirmed this information on Tuesday (September 22).
Spokesperson Arif Hossain stated that expatriate income on Monday alone amounted to BDT 848.70 crore. In the corresponding first 21 days of September last year, remittances stood at USD 203.10 million. Compared to that period, expatriate income has increased by 1.60 percent this year.
An analysis of the overall figures for the current fiscal year (July 1 to September 21) reveals that the country has received USD 7.888 billion in expatriate income to date. During the same period last fiscal year, this income was USD 6.93 billion. This indicates a 13.80 percent increase in expatriate income for the current year compared to the previous one.
