Bangladesh score a gigantic total of 306 against England

Tamim Iqbal scored another one-day international ton and he has become first century scorer in ICC champions trophy as Bangladesh team has made 305-6 in the opening match of the Champions Trophy at The Oval on Thursday.

Tamim hit his ninth ODI century, highest by a Bangladeshi before he was dismissed for 128 runs off 142.

That was his fifth century after World Cup 2015 and he also made the record partnership away from him with Mushfiqur Rahim when the pair added 166 runs in the third wicket stand.

Tamim got out in the third ball of the 45th over and Mushfiq, who made 79 off 72, got out in the next ball of Liam Plunkett that checked the run flow of Bangladesh as they could add only 43 off last 32 balls.

Sakib al Hasan got out for 10 and Sabbir Rahman was dismissed for 24 off 15 in the last over of Plunkett, who was the pick of the bowlers for England with 4-60.

England won the toss and chose to bowl first against Bangladesh before Soumya played four eye-catching boundaries and a straight six before he was held by substitute fielder Jonny Bairstow when the score was 56 in the 12th over.

Imrul Kayes joined Tamim and added 39 runs before he was brilliantly caught by Mark Wood at midwicket off Liam Plunkett.

England decided the pitch looked green enough for a four-man pace attack and selected Jake Ball and left out spinner Adil Rashid, who played in the last eight matches.

Bangladesh captain Mashrafee bin Murtaza said they would have bowled first, too.

Bangladesh brought Kayes as an extra batsman, leaving a spinner.

Bangladesh, dismissed for 84 by India at The Oval on Tuesday in a warm-up, is playing Imrul Kayes at No 3, and Rubel Hossain as a third quick.
