BNP should resign from politics

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday requested BNP leaders to leave politics for their failure to wage any movement in the last eight years.

"BNP leaders have fell off to forge any movement for the last eight years and they should quit from politics...Now they are creating conspiracy sitting on the bank of Thames River in the United Kingdom to regain the state power," said the minister as the chief guest while addressing a discussion programme organized by Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) at Bangla Academy in the capital.

Bangladesh Chattra League(BCL), the student wing of the ruling party, organized the programme marking 68th birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Quader said the BNP called for movement time and again, but the party could not succeed in the last eight years.

Calling the youths to follow Sheikh Kamal as their model, the ruling party leader said Kamal had proved himself as the symbol of Bangalee youths, adding that "nobody could stigmatized him after long 42 years since his death."

Chaired by BCL President Saifur Rahman Sohagh, the discussion meeting also was attended, among others, by ruling party member R A M Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, former diplomat Momtaz Begum, Dhaka University BCL President Abid Al-Hasan and General Secretary Motahar Hossain Prince. BCL General Secretary SM Zakir Hossain moderated the function.
