Bodies of 2 missing students rescued

Bodies of two students, who went missing after a boat sank in the river of Padma at Thanpur Kheyaghat in Bagha upazila, were recovered on Friday afternoon.

 

The deceased were identified as Sumon Ali, 18, a class XI student of Durudia College and son of Mantu of Sultanpur village and Monirul Islam, 14, a class X student of Thanpur High School and son of Chander Ali of Chandur area of the upazila.

 

While quoting local people UNB said a boat carrying 45-50 passengers sank in the middle of the river around 6:30 am.

 

All but the two boys managed to swim ashore.

 

The victims met the tragic accident while going to Kheyaghat area for harvesting jute.

 

 

 

On information, the divers from Lalpur Fire Service Station went to the spot around 11am and retrieved the bodies from an area adjacent to the spot around 1pm, said Farhad Hossain, senior station office of Sadar Fire Service.
