Police rescued the body of an assistant commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police at the officer’s mess in Rajshahi city on Saturday noon.
The body of the deceased, Sabbir Ahmed Sarfaraz, was found hanging from a grille of a window in his room, said Ifte Khayer Alam, senior assistant commissioner of RMP.
He said the room was found locked from inside since morning and he (Sarfaraz) was not responding to any call.
Later, police in presence of Enamul Haque, a teacher of forensic department of Rajshahi Medical College, broke open the door and recovered the body, he said.
The body was transferred to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital for post mortem.
Professor Enamul Haque said primarily it seemed to be a suicidal incident.
