Chinese New Year 2019 Opening Ceremony In Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy

Hosted by Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh and co-organized by the culture and tourism department of China's Yunnan province, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Bangladesh-China Friendship Centre.

The ‘happy Chinese New Year’ cultural performance will open at the Bangladesh national theater on January 17th. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Mr. Zhang Zuo and Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Minister of information of Bangladeshand Ms. Roxana Malek, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture will attend the opening ceremony as the honorable guest. 

Total over 1,000 people will attend the event, including The Prime Minister's Office, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Ministry of Culture Affairs, The Ministry of Interior, The Military, Diplomatic Envoys from various countries and people from different community in Bangladesh.

The event includes a joint performance by the Yunnan ethnic village plateau art troupe and the acrobatic troupe of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, an exhibition of the intangible cultural heritage of Yunnan province and a photo exhibition of ‘Happy Chinese New Year Gala -2019.’ 

The two-hour performance will bring a visual feast to the Bangladesh people. It is worth mentioning that the acrobatic troupe of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is one of the achievements of cultural exchanges between China and Bangladesh in recent years, These young acrobats were selected by the Ministry of Culture Affairs, Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, They went to Beijing, China for acrobatic training with the support of the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh and The Chinese Ministry of Culture and tourism, This performance is also the first combination performance of two groups of small trainees.

In addition, A number of activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year, hosted by the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh, will be held in major cities of Bangladesh. include the Bangladesh National Museum's China film festival, Dhaka university's traditional Chinese costume exhibition, cox's bazar's kite festival and photo competition etc.

It is hoped that the colorful Happy Chinese New Year activities will bring the hearts and minds of China and Bangladesh closer, build a platform for cultural exchanges between the two countries.
