Comilla Mayor Shakoo secures permanent bail

BNP-elect Comilla City Corporation Mayor Monirul Hoque Shakoo got permanent bail from a Dhaka court today in regard to a corruption case of 2008.

Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the Senior Special Judges Court passed the order after Shakoo appeared before the court and moved a bail petition.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lodged a case against Shakoo and his wife back in January 2008 charging them for amassing Tk 4.57 crore in valid way and hiding wealth statement of Tk 1.12 crore.

BNP’s candidate Shakoo, who had won the Comilla city polls held on March 30 this year, was suspended from office after the charges resurfaced and the court framed him on April 18.
