Chittagong Reporter:Police on Monday cordoned off two houses on suspicion of militant den in Akbar Shah and Kattoli areas of Chittagong city.
Acting on a tip-off, police cordoned off a house no. 40/41 in Akbar Shah area around 4:00pm, our staff correspondent reports quoting Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Akbar Shah Police Station.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and police led by Faizur Rahman, assistant commissioner of Double Mooring zone, conducted a raid at the four-storey building named MMH Nibas in the area.
The drive is being conducted following confessional statements given by the suspected militants who were detained in an anti-militancy drive in Sitakunda earlier, the AC said.
�We conducted the one and a half-hour long search inside the building but did not find out any substance of threat,� the AC said after the raid.
In the meantime, another house in Kattoli area under Pahartali Police Station is cordoned off following similar information, Nazmul Hassan, additional deputy commissioner (west) of Chittagong division, told bd24live.
More details could not be known immediately as the drives were going on when the report was filed around 5:00 pm.
