Dhaka attack mastermind remanded for 15 days

Bogra Correspondent: Jahangir Alom who was one of the masterminds of Gulshan attack, has been placed on 15-day remand in two separate cases filed over militant activity in Bogra district.

Two separate courts of Bogra Senior Judicial Magistrate placed Alom alias Rajib alias Gandhi on remand in the two cases filed with Sherpur and Shibganj police stations.

Gandhi was arrested in Tangail on January 13 in a drive conducted by members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The Sherpur police case implicates him with a blast on April 3, 2016 where two people were killed. The other case implicates him with the recovery of lethal weapons and explosives in June in 2016.

Sherpur police Sub-Inspector Jahangir Alom, alos investigation officer of the blast case, sought him for 10 days in remand. Metropolitan Magistrate Abdullah Al-Mamun granted an eight-day remand.

For the other case, Shibganj police Sub-Inspector Raju Kamal sought Jahangir in 10-day remand. Judge Md Kamruzzaman granted a seven-day remand.
