Dhallywood-based film associations appear to have toned down on the issue of lifetime ban on Shakib Khan. The associations’ leaders now say that they have not imposed lifetime ban on Shakib; rather have asked their members not to work with the Dhallywood star.
Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, president of Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association said, ‘We have not imposed lifetime ban on Shakib Khan. Actually, we have no such authority to ban an artiste. We have simply asked our members not to work with Shakib Khan.’
Managing director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation Tapan Kumar Ghosh said, ‘Shakib Khan can come to BFDC and do shooting like everyone else. BFDC authority will provide all necessary assistance to Shakib Khan during his stay on BFDC premises.’
Sixteen film associations known as Chalachitra Paribar declared a lifetime ban on Shakib Khan from a press conference held on June 23 following Shakib Khan’s ‘disparaging comments on senior actor Faruk, also convener of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association’.
