Staff Correspondent:An ex-member of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) who was escaping death row convict in sensational seven-murder case in Narayanganj, surrendered before a court in the district on Sunday morning.
Sepoy Abdul Alim, a sacked member of Rab-11, was sentenced to death in the murder case after he was found criminal of the charges.
He surrendered before Narayanganj District and Sessions Judges Court of Judge Syed Enayet Hossain around 11:00am, our local correspondent reports quoting Reazur Rahman, additional public prosecutor.
Seven more convicts in the case are on the run, APP Reazur said.
On January 16, the court awarded death penalty to 26 accused including prime accused Nur Hossain, a former local leader of ruling Awami League, and sacked commanding officer of Rab-11, Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, in the case.
Seven people, including Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker, were abducted from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road on April 27, 2014.
Later, their dead bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya river.
