Staff Reporter:A Rangpur Court on Tuesday rendered death penalty for five members of banned extremist outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh for the killing of Japanese citizen Kunio Hoshi at Kaunia in Rangpur in 2015.
The court also acquitted another accused Abu sayeed from the charges as his connection was not proved with the killing.
The Special Judge, Naresh Chandra Sarkar, issued the order on Tuesday morning.
The death raw convicts are Masud Rana, 30, Isahaq Ali, 34, Liton Miah, 30, Shakowat Hossain, 33, absconding Ahsanullah Ansari.
And the two other accused Sadaam Hossain and Nazrul Islam alias Baich Hasan were killed in separate gunfights with law enforcers at Dhaka and Rajshahi last year.
Earlier, on November 15, 2016 charges were framed against seven members of JMB including its regional commander Masud Rana for killing the Japanese citizen.
