Five members of a Bangladeshi family died of suffocation after a fire broke out at a building in Salmiyat area of Kuwait on Monday. There was a woman and her four child.
The victims have been named as Rokeya Begum, her sons 'Ema' and 'Fahad', and daughters 'Jamila' and 'Nabila'.
Rokeya's husband Juned Mia was out of their apartment when the five-storey building in Al-Salmiyah caught fire.
According to a resident of the victims' locality Joynal Abedin, Junayed Mia with his family members has been living in Kuwait for 15 years.
The family is from Moulvibazar district. The bodies were kept at Mubarak Hospital in Kuwait.
Kuwait News Agency reported that the firefighters rescued nine from the building, but five of them died at hospital. All the dead people are of a family of Asian origin, it said.
