Staff Correspondent: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said that his government has no any intention to send BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to prison cell.
"It is not governments job rather punishing or acquitting anyone is an affair of the court," he said while speaking to journalists after auspicating a beautification project in front of Radisson Hotel on Airport Road in Dhaka.
Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, came up with the comment responding to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's threat that no election will be held in the country if Khaleda Zia is sent to jail.
Claiming that the national election will be held at due time, Quader said the parliamentary polls will not wait if anyone is awarded punishment by the court.
Time and tide wait for none. Similarly the polls will not wait for anyone. It will be held as per the constitution, the minister said.
