Staff Reporter:The High Court on Tuesday ordered a rule staying the procedure of Niko graft case filed against Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
A bench of Justice Sheikh Abdul Awal and Justice Md Khashruzzaman issued the rule today afternoon after hearing an appeal filed by the BNP chief Khaleda.
Lawyer Mowdud Ahmed and lawyer Mahbub Uddin Khokon presented Khaleda�s appeal while lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan was on part of Anti Corruption Commission.
On December 9 in 2007, the ACC started the trial of five people including Khaleda for embezzling large amount of money by an unfair treaty with Canadian company Niko.
Later on May 5 2008, charges were framed against 11 people including Khaleda for misappropriating a total of Tk 13 thousand 777 crore.
