Heavy precipitation on Friday morning caused unbearable sufferings to the residents of port city, Chittagong as its low-lying areas went under nearly knee-deep water.
Downpour since 5:00am flooded Bahaddar Hat, Bakalia, Chakbazar, CMB area, Gate number two, Sholshahar, GEC intersection, WASA intersection, Lalkhan Bazar, Agrabad, Halishahar, and Badurtola in the city.
It was raining intermittently since 12:00pm.
Stagnant water on the roads also entered into houses and shops increasing people’s sufferings.
The city dwellers struggled as their belongings got damaged due to the deluge while vehicle movement also came to a halt, our correspondent reported.
Businessman Md Shahin, a resident of Bahaddar Hat, said water entered into his house and damaged furniture and other goods.
Met office in Chittagong recorded 69mm of rainfall in last 24 hours, said duty assistant Sheikh Farid Ahmad.
It is likely to rain for more two hours, he added.
