The High Court has ruled that Grameen Kalyan, an organization founded by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, former chief advisor of the caretaker government, must pay BDT 666 crore in taxes as demanded by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
The High Court bench led by Justice Md. Muzibur Rahman Miah delivered this verdict on Thursday (September 10).
The court issued this directive by dismissing a rule issued on a writ petition filed by Grameen Kalyan, which challenged the tax demand. The verdict orders the organization to pay a total of BDT 666 crore in taxes for three fiscal years.
