Key financier of extremism detained in Habiganj

Police on Tuesday have held a suspected financier of militancy from Sadar upazila of Habiganj district, UNB reports.

 

 A team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained Mostaque Ahmed on early Tuesday.

 

 Abul Kashem, inspector of organised crimes (Special Branch) said Mostaque was brought before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrates Court this afternoon and police sought a 10-day remand to interrogate him.

 

 

 

Mostaq Ahmed Kha, 27, once a Bangladeshi expatriate in Turkey, used to collect money from different organisations and individuals from Turkey and spent that for terror financing in Bangladesh, Molla Nazrul Islam, special superintendent of CID told reporters at his office in Dhaka.

He has been accused in at least six cases under special power act, anti-terrorism act and explosives act, he said.
