Khaleda denounces police presence at the house of ASM Abdur Rab

Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday  condemned and protested at ‘unwarranted’ presence of cops at the residence of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal faction president ASM Abdur Rab during  a conference with political parties leaders and renowned persons of civil society on Thursday.

She also stood against the police for issuance urgency to end the meeting quickly.

Police fenced off the house of ASM Abdur Rab Thursday evening as he invited leaders of different political parties to a tea party.

In a statement, Khaleda, former prime minister, said police intervention in the meeting of senior leaders of political parties at the residence of ASM Abdur Rab again proved that the ‘state is now ‘inhumane’ and ‘extreme anti-people’.

Police entered the house of eminent politician ASM A Rab with an evil motive, she said in the statement signed by BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

The key purpose of it was to create a serious fear in society and state so that none can utter any sound against the government, she said.

Khaleda said police was used to obstruct meeting at ASM A Rab’s house as a part of the incumbent government’s various ways to eliminate its opponent to keep up absolute power with the aid of law enforcement agencies.
