Staff Correspondent: The probe body formed to investigate into the humiliation of Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Bandar Upazila of Narayanganj, on Thursday submitted its report to the High Court.
The investigation report prepared by the chief judicial magistrate of Dhaka will be placed today before the HC through the attorney general’s office for its hearing on Sunday.
On May 13, locals beat Shyamal Kanti Bhakta for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. At one stage, local MP forced him to do sit-ups holding his ears.
On May 18, a five-member committee was formed, headed by upazila secondary education officer Nurul Amin, to investigate the incident.
On May 19, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told the media that they have dismissed the school’s managing body and reinstated Shyamal Kanti.
Rejecting a police probe report, the High Court on August 10, 2016, ordered a judicial inquiry into the public humiliation of the Narayanganj school teacher.
