PM warned BCL for doing excesses over quota movement: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina warned the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League saying that she does not want to hear further allegation of doing excesses by them.

“We got some allegations against the leaders and activists of BCL of doing excesses during the quota reform movement. After the rally at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan, the Prime Minister warned the BCL leaders and activities saying that she doesn’t want to hear any complaint against them of doing excesses,” he said while talking to reporters at the secretariat.

About the next general election, Quader said it will be held as per the constitution.

“No election will be held in the country as per BNP’s condition. We’ve clearly told our leaders and activists to refrain from violating the election code of conduct as we want a peaceful election,” said Quader.

On the dialogue proposal made by Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain and Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique, the minister said, “The Election Commission held dialogues and BNP took part in that. The EC will decide whether there’ll be further dialogue with BNP or with all political parties. But we don’t feel the need of holding any dialogue with BNP.”

Quader went on saying, “Whether BNP will participate in the next general election is totally up to them. It’s not true that the election won’t be acceptable without BNP’s participation.”

‘BNP is now saying that they’ll resist the election. There’s a conspiracy and a plot of sabotage in the announcement…we along with people will resist them,’ he added.
