Prime Minister Tarique Rahman announced that rapid recruitment activities will be initiated for the existing vacant posts across various government departments and institutions.
He made this statement on Wednesday (June 10) in response to a supplementary question from BNP Member of Parliament Abul Kalam, representing the Cumilla-9 constituency, during the question-answer session of the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament).
The Prime Minister stated that a significant number of posts remain vacant in various government institutions and departments. Recruiting for these positions is crucial to enhance the quality of public services and ensure prompt service delivery. The government is considering this matter with utmost importance, and recruitment activities will commence as swiftly as possible.
He further informed the parliament that the government has decided to recruit five hundred thousand (five lakh) government employees. Of these, recruitment processes for 2,879 individuals against vacant posts in the Ministry of Public Administration and its subordinate departments/agencies are currently ongoing.
The parliament session began at 3 PM, presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. The initial 30 minutes of the session were dedicated to the Prime Minister’s designated question-answer segment.
Responding to a question regarding equitable development from BNP MP Anisur Rahman Talukder Khokon, representing the Madaripur-2 constituency, the Prime Minister affirmed that the current government does not discriminate based on political affiliation in matters of development.
He mentioned that when some opposition MPs raised concerns about not receiving government assistance before Eid, he promptly instructed the Ministry of Local Government to take swift action. He also reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring development in all areas, whether represented by the ruling party or the opposition.
