A three-member Awami League delegation on Wednesday handed over the card to BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi around 12:30 pm at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
The three other delegation members are HM Mizanur Rahman Jony, Shafiqul Islam Babu and Munshi Fakhruddin Sultan.
BNP Assistant Office Secretary Belal Ahmed told reporters that they would also send an Eid greeting card to Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina either this afternoon or on tomorrow morning on behalf of their party chairperson.
The chiefs of the country's two major political parties greet each other during two Eid festivals and Pahela Baishakh, the Bangla new year, though they have long been avoiding personally meeting each other or exchanging pleasantries.
The two top leaders of two big political teams were last seen together on September 10, 2009 at an iftar party organized by the Armed Forces Division.
