Pabna Correspondent: A suspected robber was killed in a �gunfight� with police at Sutabil in Atgharia upazila early Sunday.
The victim was identified as Sharif, 35, son of Motaleb Hossain, a resident of Gachhpara area in Sadar upazila.
On a tip-off, a gang of robbers was preparing to commit robbery in the area, a police team conducted a drive there at 3:30am, said Goutam Kumer Biswas, additional superintendent of police.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on police, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.
At one stage, Sharif was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while others managed to flee the scene.
The law enforcers also recovered one shutter gun, one sharp weapon and four bullets from the spot.
