Staff Correspondent:State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim on Wednesday urged for expanding the spirit of Language Movement from generation to generation, including the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
She made the call speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting at Moitri Hall of Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, India on Tuesday evening.
The discussion meeting was held marking the International Mother Language Day and Amor Ekushey.
Quoting the state minister BSS said Bangabandhu had celebrated hunger strike in jail taking other inmates with him to protest the atrocities of Pakistani autocrats on February 21 in 1952.
"We are against militancy and communalism and we are in favor of independence," she said and urged all general people to give priority to patriotism above anything else.
High Commissioner Syed Moazzem Ali delivered the welcome speech while Press Minister Farid Hossain moderated the discussion.
Commonwealth Journalist Association (CJA) Secretary Jayonta Roy Chowdhury and Dr. Susmita Das Gupta took part in the discussion.
