Under demolition order, BGMEA seeks 3-yr time

Staff Reporter:Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Wednesday for three years� time to relocate from their 15-storied complex, which has been ordered for demolition.

The petition was recorded on Wednesday and might be heard at the Supreme Court tomorrow, Barrister Imtiaz Moinul Islam, a lawyer for BGMEA, told bd24live.com.

The BGMEA will destroy the building after shifting its offices, as the institution is respectful to the court directives, Imtiaz added. �We have many important offices here.�

On March 5, the SC dismissed a petition filed by BGMEA seeking review of its judgement that upheld a High Court order for demolishing the BGMEA building illegally built on the capital's Begunbari canal and Hatirjheel lake.
