Sounds of multiple explosions were heard in Iran’s southern strategically important Qeshm Island and the coastal city of Bandar Lengeh. Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that these explosions occurred early on Tuesday (November 3). Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed to have shot down three US drones near the Strait of Hormuz.

Al Jazeera, citing IRNA, reported that five explosions were heard on Qeshm Island. Simultaneously, multiple explosions were also reported in Bandar Lengeh city. Additionally, IRNA stated that residents of Qeshm Island saw two aircraft flying in the sky.

However, the cause of the explosions or any information regarding casualties could not be immediately confirmed.

Meanwhile, the IRGC has claimed to have shot down three US drones near the Strait of Hormuz. Asian News International (ANI) reported this information, citing Iran’s state broadcaster Press TV.

According to the IRGC’s claim, two US MQM-170 reconnaissance drones were shot down south of Qeshm Island using electronic warfare systems. Iran claims this increases the number of such seized drones to four.

Separately, the IRGC Aerospace Force claimed to have detected a US MQ-9 drone east of the Strait of Hormuz and destroyed it using a newly developed air defense system.

The IRGC statement said the drone was shot down using new defense technology operated under the country’s integrated air defense system. However, there was no immediate reaction from the United States regarding these claims.

Military Tensions Amidst Diplomatic Efforts
Amidst this situation, diplomatic communication between Washington and Tehran continues. Statements from both sides suggest the possibility of reaching an understanding through dialogue.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump claimed that oil prices in the international market had dropped by approximately $10 per barrel in anticipation of a diplomatic settlement with Iran.

In a post on social media platform X, Trump stated that people believe there is no possibility of war with Iran. He claimed that Iran wants to reach an agreement as soon as possible, and there is a likelihood of a deal.

US Vice President J.D. Vance also expressed optimism about progress in the talks. According to him, the Trump administration believes there has been some advancement in discussions.

However, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran is prepared for both diplomacy and military conflict. He also warned that any new military operation would be met with an even harsher response.
