The Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, has instructed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to remain highly alert so that no criminal or terrorist can flee the country by crossing the border.
He issued this directive on Monday morning during a program held at the BGB headquarters.
The Adviser said that if required, law enforcement agencies will work in coordination with the district administration to take necessary steps. He stressed that no criminal or terrorist should be allowed to cross the border under any circumstances.
He praised the BGB for its role in safeguarding the borders and maintaining law and order. He also emphasized strict action against smuggling activities, warning that any BGB member found involved in drugs or smuggling will face severe consequences.
Additionally, he said Bangladesh must maintain effective cooperation with neighboring countries and ensure strict border surveillance so that no criminal can escape. He also directed authorities to make adequate preparations to ensure that upcoming elections are held in a peaceful and orderly manner.
