Fireworks, firecrackers and lanterns are banned in the capital during national mourning

State mourning has been declared from Wednesday (December 31) to Friday (January 2) for the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. The DMP has banned all types of fireworks, bursting crackers and flying lanterns and gas balloons in the capital for these three days.

This information was announced in a circular on Tuesday (December 30).

It is said that all types of firecrackers, bursting of firecrackers, lanterns and gas balloons are prohibited in Dhaka metropolitan area for the three days of National Mourning Day under the powers conferred by Sections 28 and 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No-III/76).

Furthermore, no cultural events, DJ parties, rallies or processions can be held in open spaces. Besides, it is also said to refrain from honking car horns or activities that cause mass disturbance.
