Prime Minister Tareque Rahman has arrived in Dhaka after concluding a five-day visit to New York, where he attended the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The Emirates Airlines flight EK-582, carrying the Prime Minister and his entourage, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:21 AM on Sunday (September 27).
The Prime Minister departed New York on September 25 (11:30 PM local time) after delivering a speech for the first time in the general debate of the 81st UNGA session and holding a series of high-level bilateral and multilateral meetings.
During his four-day program in New York, the Prime Minister participated in 30 official engagements, including bilateral meetings with 11 countries, as stated by Mahdi Amin, Advisor to the Prime Minister and spokesperson for his office, during a press briefing.
These meetings emphasized issues of Bangladesh’s national interest, trade and investment, manpower export, energy security, regional cooperation, the Rohingya crisis, health, climate change, and international peace.
Mahdi Amin further informed that the Prime Minister attended eight UNGA-related programs, four high-level events on the sidelines of the UNGA, and 11 bilateral meetings. He also held meetings with various international organizations and dignitaries.
The Prime Minister’s wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, also participated in eight high-level programs during the visit, delivering speeches at four of them. These included the UN General Assembly’s Platform of Women Leaders, the First Spouses’ Dialogue, and a high-level event on maternal and child health and midwifery.
